Photeinos 4 was a basilikos protospatharios and strategos of Macedonia ("of the Macedonians"); owner of seals dateable to the ninth or tenth century: DOSeals I 43.33. Obv.: Κ(ύρι)ε βοήθ(ει) τῷ σῷ δ[ούλῳ]. Rev.: Φωτινῷ β(ασιλικῷ) (πρωτο)σπαθ(αρίῳ) (καὶ) στρατι[γ(ῷ)] τον Μακεδον(ων). Another specimen, possibly from the same boulloterion, is Schlumberger, Sig., pp. 111-112, no.7. Obv.: Κ(ύρι)ε βοήθ(ει) τῷ σῷ δούλ(). Rev.: Φωτινῷ β(ασιλικῷ) (πρωτο)σπαθ(αρίῳ) (καὶ) στρατιγ(ῷ) τον Μακεδον(ων). Possibly dateable to the second half of the ninth century; see Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 102 (citing Shandrovskaya and Sokolova).
