Phlabianos 1 was the husband of an unnamed spatharia (Anonyma 65); she received from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) a letter of consolation on the death of their son (Anonymus 574): Theod. Stud., Ep. 522, pp. 777-779 (addressed τῇ σπαθαρέᾳ τοῦ Φλαβιανοῦ). Since he is not recorded among those in mourning, he was presumably already dead. To judge by the title of his wife, he had been a spatharios. He was of noble family (their son is described as of noble blood - εὐγενὴς τὸ αἷμα: Theod. Stud., Ep. 522, p. 777, line 8). The letter was written some time between 821 and 826.
