Philotheos 8 was a basilikos spatharokandidatos and katepano; owner of a seal dateable to the second half of the ninth century: Zacos II 275. Obv.: patriarchal cross on base and two steps; circular inscription reading: Κ(ύρι)ε βοηθι τω σω δουλω*. Rev.: +Φιλοθ - εω β' σπαθ - αροκανδιδ - ατ' (καὶ) κατε - παν. The name and titles read: Φιλοθέῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαροκανδιδάτῳ καὶ κατεπάνω.
