Philetos 1 was strategos of Thrace in 788; he left his camp near the Strymon unguarded and was surprised and killed with many of his troops by the Bulgars: Theoph. AM 6281 (Φιλητὸς δέ, ὁ τῆς Θρᾴκης στρατηγός).
