Philaretos 9 was a basilikos spatharios and chartoularios of the Anatolikoi; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: DOSeals III 86.8 = Zacos and Veglery 2321. Obv.: cruciform monogram of uncertain type, with .. - σω - .ου - λω in the corners. Rev.: Φιλ - τω β' ς - χαρτ' τ - ατολ. The name and titles read: Φιλαρέτῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ χαρτουλαρίῳ τῶν Ἀνατολικῶν.
