Petros 76 was a monk, at Thessalonike; he once tried to build a cell for himself, close to that occupied by Gregory the Decapolite (Gregorios 79) in order to share his peace; two snakes allegedly attacked and wounded him but he was saved after refusing to go to the tomb of another holy man and insisting instead that Gregorios 79 pray for him: Ignatius, Vita Greg. Dec. 21. Later he was captured by the Arabs and with other prisoners was expecting to be killed; however he prayed to Gregory the Decapolite (Gregorios 79) who visited him in a vision to reassure him; in the morning all the other captives were killed but Petros 76 was released and returned to Gregorios 79's monastery giving thanks: Ignatius, Vita Greg. Dec. 31.
