Paulos 58 was deacon of the Church at Placentia (Piacenza); he contrived to expel his own bishop, Seufred 1, and seized the see for himself; Seufred 1 appealed to the bishop of Rome, Nicolas I (Nikolaos 28) who restored Seufred 1 to his see and expelled Paulos 58 with strong warnings never to seek the see again whether Seufred 1 was alive or dead: Lib. Pont. 107. 64.
