Paulos 40 was bishop of Naples; owner of a seal dateable to the seventh or eighth century: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 233 (formerly published, with facsimile, by Sabatier, Iconographie, pl. II of Sceaux et Plombs titrés, no. 27). The obverse has the image of St Ianuarius. Schlumberger gives no text.
