Paulos 36 was archbishop of Thessalonike; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: Laurent, Corpus V 1, no. 450 (= Schlumberger, Sig., p. 105, no. 1). Obv.: Παυ - λου αρ - χιεπις - κοπου. Rev.: Θες - σαλο - νικης. There were two bishops of Thessalonike in the ninth century called Paulos; the absence of an image on the seal led Laurent to identify the owner with the homonym recorded in the middle of the century in the Synodikon (EO 18, 1916-1919, p. 240, n. 14 and pp. 241-242) (and see further Gouillard, "Synodikon"); cf. Paulos 37.
