Paulos 6 was bishop of Ikonion in Lycaonia; in 681 he was represented at the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) by the bishop of Barata, Konstantinos 18; Konstantinos 18 attended the sixteenth and eighteenth sessions (9 August and 16 September 681) as his representative and subscribed on his behalf the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, and the Acts of the Council: Riedinger II 2. 686, line 11, 756, line 17 (= Mansi XI 613, 629) (both Κωνσταντίνου ἐπισκόπου Βαράτης, ἐπέχοντος τὸν τόπον Παύλου ἐπισκόπου τοῦ Ἰκονίου), Riedinger II 2. 782, lines 23-24 (= Mansi XI 644) (τὸν τόπον ἀναπληρῶν Παύλου τοῦ ἐπισκόπου Ἰκονίου); Riedinger II 2. 824, lines 11-13 (= Mansi XI 672) (τὸν τόπον ἐπέχων Παύλου τοῦ ἁγιωτάτου μου ἐπισκόπου τουτέστι μητροπολίτου Ἰκονίου). The old Latin version printed in Riedinger II 2. 783, lines 23-25 (= Mansi XI 643 and 671) reads: "locum exhibens Pauli sanctissimi metropolitani mei Iconii metropoleos".
