Paschalis 8 was notarius regionarius of the see of Rome; he was one of the officials present at the Lateran Council in October 649, where his function was to read out documents requested by the Council; the Greek texts style him Πασχάλιος νοτάριος ρεγεωνάριος τῆς ἀποστολικῆς καθέδρας or τοῦ ἀποστολικοῦ θρόνου and the Latin texts "Pascalis notarius regionarius apostolicae sedis": Conc. Lat., p. 22, line 29 with p. 23, line 29 (at the first session), p. 72, line 36 with p. 73, line 36 (at the second session), p. 98, line 1 with p. 99, line 1 (at the second session), p. 140, line 31 with p. 141, line 31 (at the third session), p. 196, line 13 with p. 197, line 13 (at the fourth session), and p. 216, line 37 with p. 217, line 37 (at the fourth session). He is expressly said to have read out certain originally Greek texts in Latin translation: Conc. Lat., pp. 140-141, 196-197.
