Pantaleon 4 was hypatos and protonotarios of Hellas; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: Schlumberger, Sig., pp. 165-166, n. 4, no. 2 (= Mordtmann, "Plombs" I, p. 292). The legend, as reported by Schlumberger, reads: Κύριε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Παντολέοντι ὑπάτῳ καὶ πρωτονοταρίῳ Ἑλλάδος. Cf. Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 124 (Shandrovskaia and Sokolova prefer the late ninth or early tenth century).
