Ouraniakos 1 was the name given by the emperor Constantine V (Konstantinos 7) to his favourite charioteer; the emperor had pictures of the six Ecumenical Councils removed from the Milion in Constantinople and replaced by pictures of the chariot races and of Ouraniakos 1 (τὸ σατανικὸν ἱππηλάσιον καὶ τὸν φιλοδαίμονα ἡνιόχον, ὅνπερ καὶ Οὐρανιακὸν ὠνόμασεν, ὡς αὐτοῦ προσφιλῆ, ὁ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τῆς γῆς ἀνάξιος ἀνιστόρησεν, ὑπὲρ τοὺς ἁγίους πατέρας τοῦτον τιμήσας): Vita Steph. Iun. 166, 14-17 (1172A-B).
