Odelbert 1 was bishop of Aquae (Acqui, in the Cottian Alps) ("Odelbertus, episcopus ecclesiae Aquensis"); in 844 he was one of the Italian bishops who attended the Council of Rome with Drogo 1; they had not been summoned by their metropolitans but went because they had criticisms to make against pope Sergius II (Sergios 60): Lib. Pont. 104. 14. To judge by his name he was a Frank or a Lombard.
