Nikolaos 71 was a monk in the monastery of the Agauroi (near Prousa, in Bithynia); when the hegoumenos Eustratios 19 fell ill, he asked Nikolaos 71 to inform Ioannikios 2 and ask for his prayers: Sabas, Vita Ioannicii 41 (μοναχῷ τινὶ Νικολάῳ), Petrus, Vita Ioannicii 54 (τὸν εὐλαβέστατον Νικόλαον). The time was probably late in the reign of Michael II (Michael 10) or during that of Theophilos 5; see Ioannikios 2.
