Nikolaos 51 was basilikos spatharios and chartoularios of the basilikon ploïmon; owner of a seal dateable between the mid ninth century and the early tenth: Zacos, Seals II 246. Obv.: patriarchal cross on base and three steps; circular inscription reading: Κυριε βοηθ' τω σω δουλω. Rev.: +Νικολαω β' σπ - αθ' (καὶ) χαρτου - λαρ' β' πλο - ημου. The name and titles read: Νικολάῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ χαρτουλαρίῳ τοῦ βασιλικοῦ πλοΐμου.
