Niketas 148 was a spatharios; addressee of two letters from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) written between 821 and 826: Theod. Stud., Ep. 476, pp. 685-687; Ep. 520, pp. 775-776 (both addressed Νικήτᾳ σπαθαρίῳ). One of the letters was a letter of consolation on the death of Niketas 148's wife (Anonyma 64), who had died after a long and painful illness; they had several children; Niketas 148 lived in Constantinople, where he was apparently employed at the imperial court (σε ἐπανιόντα οἴκοι περιχαρῶς ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνακτορικῶν διατριβῶν: p. 775, lines 13-14); he is styled ἡ θεοφίλειά σου (p. 775, line 4) and addressed as ὦ δέσποτα (p. 775, lines 20-21): Theod. Stud., Ep. 520, pp. 775-776.

Niketas 148 had a brother (Anonymus 572) with whom Theodoros 15 was acquainted; Niketas 148 is also styled τῆς ἀγάπης σου (p. 685, line 3) and τῆς σῆς ... ἀγαπητικῆς ὑπεροχῆς (p. 687, line 49) and is addressed as ὦ τριπόθητε (p. 686, line 16): Theod. Stud., Ep. 476, pp. 685-687.
