Niketas 142 was a basilikos engistiarios and archon of the ..dikt..; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: Zacos and Veglery 2240. The name and titles read: Νικήτᾳ βασιλικῷ ἐγγιστιαρίῳ καὶ ἄρχοντι τῶν ..δικτ. . For the role of the engistarioi (service at the emperor's table), see Oikonomides, Listes, p. 306. The interpretation of his second title is obscure.
