Niketas 77 was basilikos spatharios and droungarios of the Aigaion Pelagos; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth or tenth century: Konstantopoulos, JIAN 5, 97. The name and titles read: Νικήτα βασιλικοῦ σπ[αθ]αρίου δρουγγαρίου [τοῦ] Αἰγέου π[ελάγ]ους. His identification with Niketas Ooryphas (Niketas 66) was proposed by Konstantopoulos (Hemerologion tes Megales Hellados, 1925, 437-450), by Laurent (Byz 5, 1929/1930, 609) and by Zakythinos (EEBS 17, 1941, 256ff.). In JIAN I, 1898, 443- 450, A. Meliarakes suggested that he was the eunuch, protospatharios and droungarios of the Fleet under the emperor Nikephoros II Phokas.
