Niketas 72 was basilikos spatharios and doux of Chaldia; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth or ninth century, possibly to the late eighth: Konstantopoulos, JIAN 9, 158a. The text reads: Νική[τ]ᾳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ δουκὴ Χαλδί[α]ς. A similar seal is dated by Zacos and Veglery to the late eighth century, and they assign the same date to this one; see Zacos and Veglery 3088A (Christophoros 33).
