Son of Alexios 6, Niketas 67 was a basilikos mandator; in spring 816 he was sent to supervise the transfer of Theodore the Stoudite (Theodoros 15) from Metopa to Boneta on the emperor's orders; during the summer he returned to Boneta with orders to give Theodoros 15 one hundred lashes with the whip; he fulfilled his orders but protected Theodoros 15 by laying a fleece on his shoulders and beating him there; afterwards Niketas 67 cut his own arm and used his own blood to stain the whip; after Niketas 67's return to Constantinople he received a letter of thanks from Theodoros 15: Theod. Stud., Ep. 139, pp. 255-256 (addressed Νικήτᾳ μανδάτορι), cf. Ep. 146, pp. 261-263; Ep. 148, p. 265 (unnamed basilikos), Ep. 150, pp. 268-269; Ep. 220, p. 342 (all allude to him or this episode). The incident is also recorded in the Lives of Theodoros: Vita A Theod. Stud. 189B-192B (Νικήταν ἐκε͂ινον τὸν τοῦ Ἀλεξίου), Vita B Theod. Stud. 288C-289B (ἕτερον βασιλικὸν πεπομφὼς Νικήταν τοὔνομα κατ' ἐπωνυμίαν τοῦ Ἀλεξίου λεγόμενον), Vita C Theod. Stud., §44, p. 284 (Νικήταν ἐκεῖνον τὸν τοῦ Ἀλεξίου, ἄνδρα μὲν καὶ φιλόθεον).
