Niketas 40 was basilikos spatharokandidatos and strategos of Thessalonike; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: DOSeals I 18.74 = Zacos and Veglery 2271. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: Νικητα - β' σπα'καν. - στρα' Θες - σαλον'. The name and titles read: Νικήτᾳ β(ασιλικῷ) σπα(θαρο)καν(διδάτῳ) [(καὶ)] στρα(τηγῷ) Θεσσαλον(ίκης).
