Niketas 38 was basilikos kandidatos and protonotarios of Thessalonike; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: DOSeals I 18. 58. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: Νικητα β' - κανδιδ' (καὶ) α' ν - .ταριω Θες - σαλονικ'. The name and titles read: Νικήτᾳ β(ασιλικῷ) κανδιδ(άτῳ) (καὶ) (πρωτο)ν[ο]ταρίῳ Θεσσαλονίκ(ης). A second specimen from the same boulloterion is Zacos and Veglery 2233.
