Niketas 14 was vir gloriosissimus, apo hypaton, patrikios and magistros of the basilika offikia; in 680 and 681 he was one of the laymen who attended the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council); he, with most of the other laymen, only attended those sessions at which the emperor was present (the first eleven and the eighteenth); he is named first in the list of laymen at each of those sessions: Riedinger, p. 14, line 19, p. 26, line 20, p. 36, line 1, p. 46, line 24, p. 160, line 22, p. 170, line 15, p. 180, line 19, p. 190, line 16, p. 262, line 16, p. 278, line 16, p. 400, line 16, p. 752, line 15 (= Mansi XI 209, 217, 221, 229, 317, 321, 328, 333, 377, 388, 456, 625). He is styled Νικήτα τοῦ ἐνδοξοτάτου ἀπὸ ὑπάτων πατρικίου καὶ μαγίστρου τῶν βασιλικῶν ὀφφικίων; the old Latin version printed in Riedinger, p. 15, line 19, etc. (= Mansi XI 210 etc.) calls him "Niceta\n glorioso exconsule patricio et magistro imperialium officiorum".
