Niketas 10 was one of two strategoi who were killed in the battle of Markellai on 20 July 792 when the army of Constantine VI (Konstantinos 8) was heavily defeated by the Bulgars (the other was Theognostos 1): Theoph. AM 6284 (Νικήταν τε καὶ Θεόγνωστον στρατηγοὺς γεγονότας).
