Nikephoros 28 was basilikos spatharios and protonotarios of Hellas; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth or ninth century: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 168, no. 9. Obv.: invocative monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with the legend τῷ σῷ δούλῳ. Rev.: a text recorded as follows by Schlumberger: + Νικηφόρῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθ(αρίῳ) (καὶ) (πρωτο)νοτ(αρίῳ) ἑλάδος (no facsimile, and the line divisions are not indicated). This seal is perhaps identical with the one published by Konstantopoulos, JIAN 5, 50, where the name and titles read: [Ν]ικηφ[όρ]ῳ βασιλικ[ῷ σ]παθαρίῳ καὶ πρωτονοταρίῳ Ἑλλάδος.
