The name of Nikephoros 23 could be either Nikephoros or Niketas. Basilikos spatharokandidatos and tourmarches of Bizye; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth or tenth century: DOSeals I 74.1 = Nesbitt, "Overstruck Seals", pp. 82-83, n. 15. His inscription was an overstrike. If the name was Nikephoros, the seal could have belonged to Nikephoros, the husband of Maria the Younger and tourmarches of Bizye in the early tenth century; see Nesbitt and Oikonomides, DO Seals I, p. 170, note.
