In AH 246 (March 860/March 861) Nasir 2 (Nasir bar-Azhar) was sent by the caliph al-Mutawwakil 1 as envoy to the emperor Michael III (Michael 11) with lavish gifts; he was received with honour and allowed to take back two thousand Arab prisoners; some of the prisoners, who were Christians, declined to leave the Roman empire: Bar Hebr., pp. 144-145.
