Mousouilios 1 was basilikos spatharios and epi ton oikeiakon; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth or ninth century: Speck, Bleisiegel 55 = Zacos and Veglery 3147 (for the identification, see the note in Speck, p. 88). Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: Μουσουιλ. - ω β σπαθα - (και) επη τω. - υκηακω.. The name and titles probably read: Μουσουιλίῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν οἰκειακῶν. The reading of the name is not certain, partly through damage, partly because the original blank was too small for the whole seal. Zacos and Veglery read the name as Mousilios.
