Michael 87 was basilikos spatharokandidatos and komes of the basilikon ploïmon; owner of a seal dateable to the second half of the ninth century: Zacos II 853. Obv.: bust of Christ, with cross behind the head, one hand blessing, the other holding Gospel; circular inscription reading: +Κ(ύρι)ε βοηθη τω σω δουλ'. Rev.: +Μηχα - ηλ β' σπαθ' - κανδ' (και) κου - μιτι του β' - πλοιμ. The name and titles read: Μιχαὴλ βασιλικῷ σπαθαροκανδιδάτῳ καὶ κόμητι τοῦ βασιλικοῦ πλοΐμου.
