Michael 41 was hypatos and droungarios; owner of a seal dateable to the seventh or eighth century: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 336, no. 1 (facsimile). Obv.: invocative monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with the legend Μιχαηλ υιῳ. Rev.: +υπ - ατω (και) - δρουγ - γαριωι. If the reading is correct and he is styled υἱὸς, he perhaps had a father with the same name and titles. Perhaps the same man at a later stage of his career was hypatos, basilikos spatharios and droungarios and was the owner of another seal, dateable to the same period: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 337, no. 2 (facsimile). Obv.: invocative monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with the legend τῷ σῷ δούλῳ. Rev.: Μιχα - ηλ υπατω - βασιλικ(ῷ) σπ - αθαρ(ίῳ) (καὶ) δρ - [ουγ]γαρίῳ.
