A Stoudite monk, Memnon 1 left the monastery sometime between 815 and 826 and amused himself with prostitutes; his repentance and return was cited as an example by Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite): Theod. Stud., Catech. Parva 35. His defection is mentioned in another sermon of Theodoros 15: Theod. Stud., Catech. Parva 117 (composed either before his repentance or after a second defection).
