Maximianos 1 was a koubiboularios (Μαξιμιανόν τινα κοιτωνίτην), sent by the emperor Michael III (Michael 11) to arrest Damianos 2 when the latter incurred the displeasure of the Kaisar Bardas (Bardas 5); Maximianos 1 took Damianos 2 to the harbour of St Mamas, tonsured him and made him a monk, and kept him under guard: Leo Gramm. 241-242, Georg.
