Maurikios 6 was bishop of Syracuse; owner of a seal dateable to the late seventh century: Laurent, Corpus V 1, no. 884. Obv.: Virgin holding medallion of Child. Rev.: Ma[u]ri - cii ep(is)c(opi) - eccl(esiae) - Sur(acusanae). A bishop called Mauricius succeeded Theodosios 5 (who attended the Council at Rome in 680; see Laurent, op. cit., p. 693, note, citing the episcopal list of Scobar, in Mansi XI, col. 179, and F. Lanzoni, Le diocesi d'Italia dalle origini al principio del secolo VII (an. 604), I- II, p. 636) and Ioannes 495 (attested in 686/687; Pirro, Sicilia Sacra 3, p. 609, n. xlii) at Syracuse.
