Maurianos 8 was a stratelates; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth century: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 366, no. 4 (= Mordtmann, "Byz. Molybdoboullon" I, p. 31). The text given by Schlumberger reads: Μαυριανοῦ στρατηλάτου. The title stratelates was honorific and therefore the identification of this man with Maurianos 1 proposed by Schlumberger should be treated with caution.
