A native of Phrygia, Maurianos 4 was a komes (τις ἀνήρ, κόμης τῇ τύχῃ, Μαυριανὸς τῇ κλήσει, ἐκ Φρυγίας ὁρμώμενος); he had a seven year old son who was unable to speak and whose body was wasted; Maurianos 4 brought him to Peter of Atroa (Petros 34) at Dele near Prousa, where Petros 34 cured him: Vita Petr. Atr. 20, p. 113-115. The story is told among events from the reign of the emperor Leo V (Leo 15).
