Markianos 6 was a Stoudite monk and a disciple of Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) (Μαρκιανὸς ὁ μαθητὴς ἡμῶν: p. 52, line 6), he had left the monastery and taken up residence in a cave near Antisarchos; mentioned in a letter of Theodoros 15 to the koinon of Antisarchos requesting his return; Theodoros 15 states that he was not worthy of appointment to office even if he returned (οὐ γὰρ χειροτονίας ἄξιος τὸ καθόλου, κἂν ἐνταῦθα ὑποστρέψῃ, p. 52, lines 27-28; possibly he had left the monastery after Theodoros 15 failed to appoint him to some office which he coveted): Theod. Stud., Ep. 19, p. 52. The date is uncertain, but was possibly c. 806/807, see Fatouros, p. 160* with n. 78.
