Marinos 5 was a deacon; in 787 he represented the bishop of Andrapa, Theodoros 88, at the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council); he is attested at the fourth and seventh sessions, on 1 October and 13 October 787, and perhaps attended the last five sessions, from 1 October to 23 November 787: Mansi XIII 145-486. In the list of those present at the seventh session he is styled Μαρίνου διακόνου καὶ τοποτηρητοῦ Ἀνδράπων: Mansi XIII 369 (the Latin version, at XIII 370, gives his name as "Marianus"). Elsewhere he is styled Μαρῖνος διάκονος καὶ ἐκ προσώπου Θεοδώρου ἐπισκόπου Ἀνδράπων: Mansi XIII 145 (the Latin version, at XIII 146, gives his name as "Martinus"). At the fourth session he subscribed the statements read out from the Fathers in support of the veneration of icons: Mansi XIII 145. His name is missing from the list of those who subscribed the statement of the faith adopted by the Council at the seventh session, but he was present at that session and the omission may be due to a defect in the text, perhaps in the lacuna at Mansi XIII 392.
