Makrobios 1 was bishop of Seleukeia in Isauria; he attended the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) in 680 and 681 and was present at all eighteen sessions: Riedinger II 2. 16-824 (= Mansi XI 212-672). In the subscriptions to the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, and to the Council, he is styled Μακρόβιος ἐλέει Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος τῆς Σελευκέων μητροπόλεως τῆς Ἰσαύρων χώρας: Riedinger II 2. 784, line 13, 824, line 28 (= Mansi XI 644, 672) (the old Latin version printed in Riedinger calls his see "Seleuciae metropoleos Hisauriae regionis": Riedinger II 2. 785, line 13, cf. II 2. 893, lines 18-19, = Mansi XI 643, 671, cf. XI 692-693). In the lists of those attending each session he is styled Μακροβίου ἐπισκόπου Σελευκείας Ἰσαυρίας: Riedinger II 2. 16, line 29, 28, line 33, etc. (= Mansi XI 212, 220, etc.). At the eighth session (7 March 681) he declared his acceptance of the doctrine of Two Natures, Two Wills and Two Energies as set out in documents from pope Agatho 1 and the Roman Council of 680: Riedinger II 2. 212, lines 14-23 (= Mansi XI 348) (Μακρόβιος ὃν θεοφιλέστατος ἐπίσκοπος Σελευκίας Ἰσαυρίας). At the fourteenth session (5 April) he produced a copy of the Acts of the Fifth Ecumenical Council which he had received from Philippos 1 and in which he had found evidence of forgery in the account of the seventh session; he identified the handwriting as that of the monk Georgios 34, whom he had often seen writing when Makarios 1 was still patriarch of Antioch, and he asked the Council to question Georgios 34 about the forgery: Riedinger II 2. 648, lines 5-16 (= Mansi XI 592). He was among the signatories to the copy of the definition of the faith sent to the bishop of Rome, Agatho 1, signing on behalf of himself and the bishops under him: Riedinger II 2. 893, lines 18-19 (= Mansi XI 692-693) (ὑπὲρ ἐμαυτοῦ καὶ τῆς ὑπ'ἐμὲ συνόδου). His name occurs in the list of bishops printed in Riedinger II 2. 736, line 5 (= Mansi XI 696), with his see and province. Still bishop of Seleukeia in 692, he attended the Quinisext Council and signed the canons: Ohme, Bischofsliste, p. 147, no. 26 (= Mansi XI 989) (Μακρόβιος ἐλάχιστος ἐπίσκοπος τῆς Σελευκέων μητροπόλεως τῆς Ἰσαύρων ἐπαρχίας).
