Makarios 7 was hegoumenos of the monastery of the Theotokos at Lissos; he and his fellow hegoumenos, Makarios 6, visited St Ioannikios (Ioannikios 2) in his old age, shortly after the consecration of their churches, and were told the story of their churches which, although recently consecrated, had been founded by Ioannikios 2 long before during the reign of the emperor Leo V (Leo 15): Sabas, Vita Ioannicii 49 (οἱ τῶν ἐγκαινισθέντων εὐκτηρίων καὶ μοναστηρίων ἡγούμενοι, τοῦ ἁγίου Εὐσταθίου φημὶ καὶ τῆς Θεοτόκου, ἄμφω ὀνομαζόμενοι Μάκαρες). The date was apparently after the Triumph of Orthodoxy, in 843, and therefore between 843 and 846; see Ioannikios 2.
