Makarios 2 was bishop of Arkanda (possibly in Isauria, or Askanda in Lycia); in 787 he attended the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council) but is attested only at the first session, on 24 September 787; he is styled Μακαρίου ἐπισκόπου Ἀρκάνδων: Mansi XII 999 (the Latin version, at XII 1000, reads: "Macario episcopo Arcandorum"). The identification of his see is uncertain. In the list his entry occurs at the very end, after a group of bishops from Isauria. Possibly his see was also in Isauria and Arkanda perhaps a native name which in 787 replaced the official one (cf. for other instances Ramsay, Historical Geography, p. 280, note). Arykanda in Lycia was represented by Petros 37 at Nikaia.
