Leonidas 1 was a notarios of the kommerkion of Thessalonike; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth or ninth century: DOSeals I 18.51 = Zacos and Veglery 2151. Obv.: Κύριε or Θεοτόκε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ. Rev.: Λεονήδ() νοτ(αρίῳ) τοῦ κομερ(κίου) Θεσσαλονήκ(ης). On this man's office, see Nesbitt and Oikonomides, note in DOSeals I, p. 70. Zacos and Veglery dated this seal to the ninth century.
