Leo 259 was a hypatos who became a monk and took the name Theodoros, after Theodore the Stoudite (Theodoros 15) (Vita C Theod. Stud. §60, p. 293: ὁ δηλωθεὶς Λέων ὁ ὕπατος, ὁ καὶ τὸ σχῆμα ὑπελθὼν τοῦ μοναχοῦ καὶ ὁμωνύμως ἐπικληθεὶς τῷ πατρὶ διὰ τὸν πρὸς αὐτὸν πόθον καὶ ἔρωτα); he lived at a place called Metata of Lakkos (Vita C Theod. Stud. §59, p. 292: ἐν τοῖς λεγομένοις τοῦ Λάκκου Μιτάτοις) near to the monks of Xerolophoi, with whom he joined in greeting Theodoros 15 after his release from captivity by the emperor Michael II (Michael 10) (in 821); Leo 259 was a hypatos at the time and subsequently became a monk (Vita C Theod. Stud. §59, p. 292: Λέοντι τῷ θαυμαστῷ ὑπάτῳ, τῷ καὶ τὸν μονήρη ἑλομένῳ μετέπειτα βίον); he honoured Theodoros 15 both during the latter's lifetime and also after his death, when he frequented his tomb; Leo 259 also narrated examples of miracles performed by Theodoros 15, once when Theodoros 15 cured Leo 259's daughter-in-law and once when he himself was saved from a panther at the mere mention of the saint's name (Vita C Theod. Stud. §§61-62, pp. 293-294); his son was Dionysios 4 (τῷ ἐμῷ υἱῷ: Vita B Theod. Stud. 305B, Vita C Theod. Stud. §61, p. 293, Vita A Theod. Stud. 209A): Vita C Theod. Stud. §§59-62 (pp. 292-295, cf. Vita A Theod. Stud. 208C (Ὁ γὰρ πρὸ μικροῦ μνημονευθεὶς Λέων, ὅς καὶ τὸν μονάδα βίον μετελθὼν ἐν ὑστέρῳ, καὶ ὁμωνύμως τῷ Πατρὶ ἐπικληθεὶς), Vita B Theod. Stud.
