Leo 144 was basilikos spatharios and kommerkiarios of Thessalonike; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth or tenth century (possibly tenth century, according to Shandrovskaia and Sokolova): Konstantopoulos, JIAN 5, 6. The name and titles read: Λέοντι βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ κουμερκ[ι]αρίῳ Θεσσαλονίκης. On the date, cf. Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 126.
