Leo 140 was basilikos protospatharios and strategos of Cherson; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth or tenth century (possibly to the tenth, according to Sokolova): Konstantopoulos, JIAN 5, 121 = Schlumberger, Mélanges, 227 = "Sceaux" I, 121. The name and titles read: Λέοντη βασιλικῷ πρωτοσπαθαριῳ καὶ στρατηγῳ Χερσόνος. Cf. Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 113 on the date.
