Leo 139 was basilikos protospatharios and strategos of the Aigaion Pelagos; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth or tenth century (possibly late ninth or early tenth, according to Seibt, or tenth century, according to Shandrovskaia and Sokolova): Konstantopoulos, JIAN 5, 98 = Schlumberger, Mélanges, 47 = "Sceaux" I, 120. The name and title read: Λέοντι βασιλικῷ πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ στρατηγῷ τοῦ Ἐνγέου [Π]ε[λάγ]ους. Cf. Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, pp. 108ff for the date.
