Leo 95 was basilikos protospatharios and strategos of the Armeniakoi; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth or tenth century (see below): Schlumberger, Sig., p. 295, no. 1 (facsimile). Obv.: cross on three steps and the legend [Κύριε βοήθει] το σο δουλω (sic). Rev.: +Λεον - τα β(ασιλικῷ) (πρωτο) σπ - [αθα]ριο (καὶ) στ - [ρατ]ιγο των - [Αρ]μενηα - κων. Schlumberger proposed identifying the owner with the emperor Leo V (Leo 15), but the date of the seal is probably too late; Shandrovskaia and Sokolova prefer a late ninth century date while Seibt dates the seal to the ninth or tenth century; see Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 81.
