Leo 88 was bishop of Prousias; owner of seals dateable to the ninth or tenth century: Laurent, Corpus V 1, 477 = Panchenko, Katalog, 324 (obv.: Virgin holding medallion of Child, with the legend Μ(ήτηρ) Θ(εοῦ) and the invocative formula Θ(εοτό)κε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δο[ύ]λ[]; rev.: +Λεον - τι επισκο - πωι Πρους - ιαδ[ο]ς), Laurent, Corpus V 1, 478 = Konstantopoulos, JIAN 5, 163 (obv.: identical with the above; rev.: +Λεο - ντ() επι[σ] - κοπωιͅ [Π] - ρουσια[δ(οσ)]). The two seals are so similar that they probably belonged to one and the same person. He may be identical with the bishop of Prousias, Leo (PBE II), who attended the Photian Synod of 879-880 (Mansi XVIIA 377DE). See also the seal at Schlumberger, Mélanges, p. 229, n. 51.
