Leo 73 was a basilikos kandidatos and protonotarios of Thessalonike; owner of a seal dateable to the early or mid ninth century: DOSeals I 18.56 = Zacos and Veglery 2097. Obv.: Κύριε or Θεοτόκε βοήθει [τ]ῷ σῷ [δ]ούλῳ. Rev.: Λέοντι β(ασιλικῷ) κανδ(ιδάτῳ) [(καὶ)] (πρωτο)νοταρ(ίῳ) [Θ]εσσ(αλονίκης). Nesbitt and Oikonomides assign this seal to the first half of the ninth century because the beta on the reverse is in the form of a capital Latin "R".
