Leo 37 was bishop of Amisos in Helenopontos; in 787 he attended the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council) but is attested only at the first and seventh sessions, on 24 September and 11 October 787: Mansi XII 998, XIII 373, XIII 392. In the lists of those present at the first and seventh sessions he is styled Λέοντος ἐπισκόπου Ἀμινσοῦ: Mansi XII 998 and XIII 373 (Λέοντος ἐπισκόπου Ἀμισοῦ). At the seventh session he subscribed the statement of the faith adopted by the Council; he is here styled Λέων ἀνάξιος ἐπίσκοπος Ἀμισοῦ: Mansi XIII 392.
